SideJobTrack
If you’re going to moonlight, you need an efficient way to manage your projects and invoices on the side. Enter SideJobTrack, a free Web application that links together projects, clients, and invoices. It can take a bit of time and mental effort to get in the groove, but if you use it regularly, you’ll find SideJobTrack an effective project management and invoicing tool. And for those worried that a Web app like this may suddenly disappear one day, you can do a backup in XML at any time. Nice.

LinkedIn
The business networking site du jour (as of 2006/2007). LinkedIn uses the six-degrees principle: chances are you may have exhausted your contacts for job leads, but what about your contacts’ contacts? Enter your personal information, then find (or add) other people you know, and you’ll get access to their contacts. To add connections, you need their email addresses – so you can’t just add a buddy of a contact you happen to know (unless you’re willing to pay LinkedIn). Or, ask your contact for an introduction using the system. You get out of LinkedIn what you put in.

MarketingHeadhunter.com
Harry Joiner, an executive recruiter specializing in integrated marketing and new media, blogs about job hunting for marketers, career advice, and the industry in general. From factors that can affect your chances of getting a job (interview advice, how to sell yourself) to getting out of the slush pile and into the hiring manager’s brain, Joiner tells it like it is. He also covers issues for marketing employers and, of course, recruiters.

Fast Company listings
One of the darling publications of the Internet/tech boom of the late 1990s, this magazine writes about ‘fast companies’ and people – “creative workers and organizations that are building the future.” If you’re looking to work for an innovative company, this is a great place to start. The site has a list of Fast Companies it’s written about (or readers have submitted), searchable by name, industry, or region. A nice touch: many companies are linked directly to the FC articles about them, as well as their Web sites.

Jobby
Are resumes dead? If you’re looking for a technical marketing job, nifty Web 2.0 site Jobby lets you create a profile for headhunters and employers. What’s the difference? No resume needed – just tag your skills and let potential bosses find you. Like most Web 2.0 apps, it’s in ‘beta,’ and it’s no Monster in terms of popularity. But the slick interface looks like the future of posting your skills to the Web. Recently acquired by Jobster (http://www.jobster.com), which takes a more traditional approach to job listings.
